Printable Alphabet Tracing and Number Practice

Type letters such as “Aa Bb Cc” or numbers like “1 2 3 4 5” and the worksheet repeats them on guided lines. Use dotted letters for the easiest tracing, outline for more challenge, or solid gray for confident writers.

Make a full A–Z set by printing a few letters per sheet, or focus on tricky letters like b and d. Each sheet has 3-line guides and a star to colour at the end of every line.

Ideas for Letter and Number Practice

Practise one or two letters per page so each letter is large. Say the letter name and sound while tracing, then write the letter or number once without tracing. Mix uppercase and lowercase pairs to help children match them.

A Letter Order That Works

You do not have to go from A to Z. Many programs group letters by the strokes they use: round letters first (c, o, a, d, g, q), then straight-line letters (l, i, t, u, j, y), then letters with a hump (r, n, m, h, b, p) and finally the diagonal letters (v, w, x, z, k). Print one group per sheet so each letter stays large.

Practising Numbers 0 to 9

Start with numbers made from straight lines such as 1, 4 and 7, then move on to curved ones like 0, 6, 8 and 9. Most digits begin at the top, so say the starting point out loud. Writing a number the wrong way round is very common at this age and usually disappears with practice.

Fixing Common Letter Mix-Ups

Letters b and d are often confused. For b, draw the bat (the straight line) first and then the ball. For d, draw the ball first and then the stick. The same idea works for p and q. Tracing the dotted letters slowly several times helps the correct movement become automatic.
