Number words are some of the first sight words children read and spell. This worksheet shows the words one to twenty on separate lines in dotted letters, so your child can trace each word and practise spelling it.
Each page has 10 words and there are two pages by default. Use the Previous and Next buttons under the preview to flip between them. Want the digit next to the word? Turn on Show numbers and each line reads like 7 seven. You can also choose any range up to one thousand.
Group the words to make them easier to remember. One to ten are all different, and eleven and twelve are odd ones out. Thirteen to nineteen mostly end in -teen, while the tens end in -ty, as in twenty, thirty and forty. Watch out for forty, which has no u even though four does, and for eight, which has a silent gh.
Write the digits on one set of cards and the words on another and let your child match them. Play number word bingo, or ask your child to use a word in a sentence, such as “I have three cats”. After tracing, copy a few words onto blank handwriting paper without the dotted guide.
Once your child knows the words to twenty, set To to 100 to practise twenty-one, twenty-two and the rest. Count by tens to learn thirty, forty and fifty on their own. Our counting 1 to 100 and skip counting pages use the same tool with different settings.
